New Travel Photograph: Due Rossi in La Morra

Fine Art Travel Photograph: Due Rossi in La Morra by Nat Coalson

One of my favourite subjects to shoot in Europe is scooters set against a backdrop of interesting, old walls.

Growing up in Colorado and California, I didn’t see many of these types of vehicles and, although they are more common in American cities these days, they still seem exotic and interesting to me.

A great example is this lovely red Vespa GTS I encountered in the Barolo village of La Morra, Italy.

I love the juxtaposition of old and new, while the rich, warm red tones simultaneously create a somewhat monochromatic effect.

Prints are available now, and I’m also working on a new calendar of my scooter photographs.

New Scenic Travel Photograph: Siena Skyline

Fine Art Travel Photograph: Siena Skyline by Nat Coalson

A couple of years ago Ruth and I led another private photo tour around Tuscany, Italy. I’m just now processing through all the images from that trip, and this is one of my favourites so far.

This photograph was made from the roof terrace at the top of our lovely hotel. It dramatically portrays the skyline accented by the dome of the Siena Duomo (main cathedral) and Torre del Mangia (Tower of the Eater). According to Wikipedia, the tower name refers to its first bellringer, Giovanni di Balduccio, nicknamed Mangiaguadagni (‘eat-the-profits’, or, ‘profit eater’) for his spendthrift tendency or his idleness or gluttony.

Fine art prints and licensing are available. Click the image or click here for a larger preview and online ordering.

New Travel Photograph: Metropol Parasol

Metropol Parasol: Fine Art Travel Photography by Nat Coalson

In the Spring of 2014, I led a private photo tour with clients in southern Spain, mainly Andalusia and Catalunya.

We began the trip in Seville – an incredibly beautiful, historic and photogenic city.

This image features the Metropol Parasol, which you can walk around the top of. The scale of the structure is evident by the people at bottom left, whom appear tiny in comparison.

New Nature Photograph: Black Bamboo Forest

Nature Photograph: Black Bamboo Forest by Nat Coalson

In this fine art nature photograph, bamboo stalks stand in stark silhouette against a shallow pond covered in bright green lily pads and water plants.

I made this image in Zizhuyuan Park (or Black Bamboo Park, formerly known as Purple Bamboo Park) in the heart of the Haidan District of Beijing, China.

Fine art prints of this photograph are available in any size and on any material.
