In early 2014 I led a private photo workshop with a group in southern Spain. One of our group’s favourite locations was Granada, where we spent several nights.
The Alhambra is one of the most famous historical sites in Spain, with a history dating back to the 9th century.
We photographed the spectacular complex several times, from various vantage points. This is one of the best.

One of my favourite subjects to shoot in Europe is scooters set against a backdrop of interesting, old walls.
Growing up in Colorado and California, I didn’t see many of these types of vehicles and, although they are more common in American cities these days, they still seem exotic and interesting to me.
A great example is this lovely red Vespa GTS I encountered in the Barolo village of La Morra, Italy.
I love the juxtaposition of old and new, while the rich, warm red tones simultaneously create a somewhat monochromatic effect.
Prints are available now, and I’m also working on a new calendar of my scooter photographs.

A couple of years ago Ruth and I led another private photo tour around Tuscany, Italy. I’m just now processing through all the images from that trip, and this is one of my favourites so far.
This photograph was made from the roof terrace at the top of our lovely hotel. It dramatically portrays the skyline accented by the dome of the Siena Duomo (main cathedral) and Torre del Mangia (Tower of the Eater). According to Wikipedia, the tower name refers to its first bellringer, Giovanni di Balduccio, nicknamed Mangiaguadagni (‘eat-the-profits’, or, ‘profit eater’) for his spendthrift tendency or his idleness or gluttony.

Hawaii is one of my favourite places on earth. There’s a feeling in the air—maybe the combined effects of sea, wind and sun—that creates a beautiful feeling of peace. In many places, too, there is a lovely aroma of flowers and tropical foliage.
Such is Queen Liliuokalani Gardens in the town of Hilo, on Hawaii Island. I spent a blissful afternoon exploring the park and gardens, and when I discovered this scene, I stayed a long while making many photographs.

I’ve recently begun working with a new client, through representation with one of my art consultants in London.
They sent me some examples of images they were looking for and asked if I had pictures in that style/genre.
As a result of the custom work on that project, I’ve created a new collection of nature/landscape photographs featuring dramatic rock formations set against the sea.
Here are a few of the new images; I’ll be adding more pictures to this collection so stay tuned!
